Objective
IVEX is a 100-year-old paper mill that produces paper bags, carpet backing and many other specialized paper products. IVEX’s parent company needed new leadership at the mill and knew that this would not be available internally or from the nearby area.
Proposal
Kathbern proposed a nationwide search of all areas where paper mills are located. This added an additional layer of complexity since the successful candidate would definitely be required to relocate to Peoria.
Process
With the search criteria agreed by the client, we set out to identify all paper mills in the U.S. and all individuals at such mills who had the experience necessary to operate the Peoria mill. We contacted dozens of such individuals to inquire about their interest in the position and their willingness to relocate. Positions requiring relocation, especially to smaller communities, often take somewhat longer to fill.
Results
About six weeks after beginning, Kathbern identified three individuals who had the necessary experience and who would be willing to relocate. Several virtual interviews narrowed the list to one individual who was living in Maine. He travelled to Peoria for an in-person interview, was offered the role and accepted.
