Objective
DME is manufacturer of stainless steel pressure vessels used by the craft brewing industry. It had recently established a manufacturing facility in South Carolina and needed a Plant Manager to manage the operation.
Proposal
Kathbern worked with DME’s Chief Operating Officer to clearly establish the requirements for the Plant Manager role. It would be an East Coast/Central U.S. focused search, and the successful candidate would have to have pressure vessel manufacturing experience in a management capacity and preferably vessels manufactured from stainless steel.
Process
Kathbern approached the project with a combination of U.S. focused on-line advertising and direct contact with candidates with potentially interesting experience. The narrow requirements presented a significant challenge, but after several weeks Kathbern had identified six potential candidates from widely different geographic locations and only one from South Carolina. During the review process several candidates found other employment and dropped out of the process.
Results
Our client narrowed their interest to one candidate and they and the candidate travelled to the plant in South Carolina for a face to face meeting and tour. Deemed to be a success, our client prepared an offer for Kathbern to present to the candidate and after some negotiation with Kathbern acting as a buffer, agreement was reached, references checked and this project completed.
