Lori Allingham, Controller and co-owner of Mapleridge Mechanical, is an extremely busy executive managing the administrative aspects of this large 100+ technician company. She needed a key person with accounting and customer service skills, and time was of the essence.
Kathbern drafted a job outline for Ms. Allingham’s approval that provided for considerable administrative experience including bookkeeping/accounting, excellent customer service skills and the potential for promotion to a more responsible role in the future.
As Maple Ridge is based in Pickering, east of Toronto, Kathbern focused on the probability that many people who live in the East Greater Toronto Area would find the prospect of working close to home to be very attractive. As a result, we targeted our recruiting efforts to that geographic area while still screening for the key skills and experience that the job required.
In a fairly short time, Kathbern was able to arrange interviews for Ms. Allingham with four capable candidates, which resulted in an offer to one and rapid acceptance. Within two weeks of the offer, the new member of the Mapleridge Mechanical team was on the job.
