The owner of Ferguson Electric in Cobourg, Ontario was frustrated because he did not have anyone capable of standing in for him to manage his team in the field, to do business development and estimating, or to take over while the owner was away on vacation.
Kathbern recommended a search for an experienced electrician with management experience. More than likely, it was expected that candidates would have to be willing to relocate to the Cobourg area.
Kathbern commenced a search focused on the Greater Toronto area with special emphasis on the eastern GTA to identify candidates that might live close enough to Cobourg to be able to avoid relocation. A number of candidates were identified as potentially capable of filling the role and interviews were organized for Ferguson Electric’s owner.
A particularly qualified individual who was normally a resident of Toronto and a Master Electrician was found currently working on a project in The Bahamas. He had previously operated his own electrical contracting business and so had many of the management and business skills that Ferguson’s owner was looking for. Kathbern assisted with the preparation of an offer and participated in the ensuing negotiation, which resulted in an agreement and relocation of this candidate to the Cobourg area to assume the role of Assistant Manager to the owner.
